What have we asked for your feedback and support with?
It’s important we take time to hear the views of our partners, stakeholders, staff and community when we make changes.
We have done this:
• When services changed because of the impact of covid
• As we developed our five year strategy for health and care in north Cumbria

In the summer of 2020 we asked people living in north Cumbria if they has accessed services during the pandemic and how they felt about the changes brought in to keep patients and staff safe.
We analysed 468 response to the survey which covered primary care, community and hospital services as well as mental health services.
All of the specific feedback was shared with the organisations’ patient experience teams, and has been used as services have developed.
The feedback was also shared with, and discussed, by the CCG’s Governing Body.

The Governing Body agreed the survey provides a snapshot of feedback about the experiences of health services during the covid-19 pandemic and reflects back similar themes to those raised in the Healthwatch Coronavirus Survey Reports, national feedback and wider feedback through concerns raised and patient experience.
The information related to specific services has been shared back to enable them to be used in service improvement and development.
Recommendations for the CCG:
• To support practices and PCNs to communicate with the wider community about flu vaccine planning
• To support practices and PCNs to communicate with the wider community around extended access
• To support practices and PCNs to respond to feedback such as long answerphone messages, and feedback on telephone and video consultation
• To support NCIC and CNTW to
• To ensure this feedback is used in future service improvement and activity
The survey also asked for specific feedback on the flu vaccine programme – what would people feel comfortable with in terms of location, process given the additional infection prevention measures. This was used by each practice to help shape their plans for flu vaccination 2020 – one of the most successful in recent years.
Developing our Health and Care Strategy for North Cumbria 2019-2024 ‘Building Integrated Care – happier healthier communities’ we talked to our community about our priorities and listened to their views.
We spoke to partners and stakeholders and carried out a survey in the summer of 2019 in relation to developing our strategy in north Cumbria for the next five years.

January 2020 Director of strategy for North Cumbria Health and Care, Ramona Duguid, said:
“We know that the NHS and our partners face increasing demand and we must work together to respond to this increase. Now, more than ever before, we are collaborating across organisations and developing our future plans together to better respond to the needs of our community.
“When we started talking about how we would improve services for our community and our staff over the next five years, we started by listening to people on the ground about what was important to them and how we could make things work better.
“We’ve changed some of our thinking because of what we have heard, and have described a future where we work together towards a shared vision for our area.”
The 5 year plan outlines 3 key aims:
• We will improve the health and care outcomes of our local communities and support people of all ages to be in control of their own health
• We will build health and care services around our local communities
• We will provide safe and sustainable high quality services.
To do this we have to improve areas that will enable us to make the changes and improvements needed.
We identified these key areas which the community agreed were important:
• We will be a great place to work and develop
• We will integrate how health and care and other organisations work together
• We will live within our means and spend resources wisely
We listened to what our staff and patients said, and added another based on feedback, about embracing digital technologies:
• Deliver digitally enabled care
The plan aligns with Cumbria's Wellbeing Strategy and Public Health Strategy and includes ambition physical and mental health services from primary care through to specialist referrals.
